the role of perioperative medicine
Perioperative medicine is the care of patients from decision to operate through to their full recovery from surgery. With a continually evolving patient cohort, we, as clinicians, are being challenged with increasingly complex comorbidities and chronic disease with limited resources. Therefore, perioperative medicine aims to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to coordinate patients care and use NHS services efficiently to provide individualised patient care.
What we are aiming for:
To provide a network of communication regarding QI opportunities and research projects in this area
To support trainees in developing an interest in perioperative medicine
To support opportunities of perioperative medicine fellowships both nationally and internationally
To organise a WPOMs annual conference to allow like-minded clinicians to share ideas and explore challenges faced
