You may have heard about the new e-learning course at our EPOMS 2022 conference in November. But for those of you that haven’t….
This is a Welsh Government funded initiative in partnership with University College London. The PACU course is aimed at all healthcare professionals but in particular recovery nurses and those working in postoperative care/PACU units.
Post Anaesthetic Care Units (PACU) are expanding rapidly in Wales and this has meant a huge drive to upskill and increase education in postoperative medicine. This e-learning provides a flexible, modular approach to learning. It includes 14 modules: Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Pain, Delirium/Frailty and Enhanced Care naming just a few. It also has specific specialist modules for areas such as Upper Gastrointestinal surgery, orthopaedic surgery, Urology surgery etc. So users are able to tailor the programme to what they require for their clinical practice.
The initiative was launched in January 2023 and we now have our second cohort passing through the course and over 200 delegates involved. This remains free to users within Wales for the first 3 years so if you are interested or know anyone that might be then please get in touch at pacuwales@gmail.com.
